Romantic Vajdahunyad Castle

When we visited Budapest in Hungary, the highlight of those days were probably Vajdahunyad Castle. A beautiful disney-esque castle encapsulated by the city, surrounded by some kind of river and lake. Complete with a moat!
Vajdahunyad Castle is not super old, but were built in 1896 and was designed to feature copies of several landmark buildings from different parts of Hungary, especially the Hunyad Castle in Transylvania, now in Romania.

Vajdahunyad Castle blends some of the finest buildings in the historical Hungary into a single eclectic palace featuring styles from the Middle Ages to the 18th century: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings. So it is a diverse and interesting place to stroll around. A welcome place for relaxing, away from the busy city life.
