Exploring Budapest

Last summer I spent a few days in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. We couchsurfed there for a few days after having spent 1-2 weeks in the Hungarian countryside, travelling together with my partner Ruben and my fellow blogger @gaiadottir.

I always look for old buildings, castles and especially Art Nouveau when visiting a new city. Luckily Budapest had a lot of that! And I always do my research well, that’s how I know how to find the best places. Sometimes I stumble upon amazing things by chance too. If you love old or unusual architecture as well, I’m quite sure you will like these pictures. And maybe you get some ideas for what to look for if you some day find yourself to be in Budapest as well.

Some more posts I made about Budapest which is absolutely worth a look:
Fisherman’s Bastion
Vajdahunyad Castle
Museum of Applied Arts

It was so warm I had to buy a fan 😮

We discovered this hidden place.

Always on the lookout for some greenery.

We went to this bath to feel refreshed after over a week in the wild.

The Hungarian Parlament building. Definitely recommend a look inside, it is planned tours and we didn’t make it.

We found a cafè right next to the parlamanent, which sold raw cakes. We bought 7 pieces to celebrate the birthday of @gaiadottir 🙂

The parlament by night, looks more like a palace.

Highly recommend seeing this colorful fountain, the water dancing to music in really intricate ways!

Feeling at home in this Sycamore.

Of course we had to eat at a medieval restaurant. Definitely recommend Lancelot.

We arrived just before closing, so not many people there.

They gave us a generous amount of food!

Eating vegan sugarfree icecream. Best icecream I ever tasted. Didn’t have icecream since I quit sugar completely in 2006.

Had to ask the neighbours of this amazing art nouveau building made by Odon Lechner to get on top of their roof just to get a closer look.

I didn’t get further than the hallway inside though.

But it was nice!

Ootd!

Someone recommended us this weird, artsy and apocalyptic cafè/restaurant which we visited before we left Hungary:

Would you like to see Budapest or Hungary?
